Beautiful Day

It is such a nice day today so I had to pull over and take a picture. It's been such horrible weather lately and it was time for some sunshine. I don't think it will stay this way for long, but at least we got one day of it so we can try to not get too depressed when it starts raining and (hopefully not) snowing again. Have a good Easter everyone, I hope it's wonderful weather!!

Lighting Homework

This photo was taken at 5:40. I like the lighting in this one the best. It was right after the sun had set.

Lighting Homework

This image was taken around 12:30 in the afternoon. It was a pretty cloudy day so it didn't have the brightness that I would have liked.

Lighting Homework

This is the picture I took at 6:20 in the morning. It is right outside of my house so it was a pretty easy shot to get. It's not the best, but it shows the different light well.

Landscape Photo

I chose this landscape photo because I feel that this is a good example of Vermont Highway landscape. Whenever I am driving towards New Hampshire I always see these rock walls and I like the way they look. I think in the fall it is much prettier, but it still looks good with the snow and sparse trees. I would have liked it to come out better, but it does depict the landscape well. I took many pictures of these rock walls, but the lighting outside wasn't the best and it was getting difficult to keep pulling over on the highway. When I was reading the link about landscapes there was one part in landscape as a process talking about eroding, cracking, and crumbling and whenever I see these rocks that's what I think of so that's why I chose this photo. I learned that landscape is whatever is natural to you and whatever you see in nature, it could be your backyard or a mountain, as long as it's what you see outside then it can be your landscape.

Rule of Thirds Homework

This is my actual rule of thirds photo. I like it a lot better then the one with the wind chime in the center. Your eye is drawn right to the wind chime and it looks like a better photo. Overall, the rule of thirds made this a better looking photo but I still don't like it too much.

Rule of Thirds Homework

This is my photo that does not have the rule of thirds incorporated. I also decided to use the information I learned about my camera by changing the photo into black and white. I think black and white photos add a different element and make them look better. I wasn't sure what to take photos of for this assignment, but I looked up in my mom's house and found her wind chime so I figured, why not just do that.

Framing Homework

This is the photo I chose for the framing homework. I chose it because it had a natural frame around it and then it looks like there is another frame with the silver lining around the coke sign. I don't really like this photo, but I think it qualifies as framing. I also took lots with door frames and windows, but I thought this might be a little more original.

Complementary Homework

I had a hard time trying to find complementary colors, but I remembered Karen saying that yellow and purple were a good example so I chose this yellow rose with little purple flowers in the background. It's not the most clear image, but I did it with the macro lense so the corners of each flower are slightly blurred, but I like the effect and I think it adds to the overall image of the photo.

Monochrome Homework

This photo was taken in an upstairs bedroom at my mom's house. The pillow, sheet, and blanket are all different shades of green so I thought this worked for the monochrome picture. I thought it was really hard to try and find something and I do not really like this picture, but I believe it serves its purpose.

Lighting Homework

I took this photo outside against the snow in natural light. This picture is my favorite of the different light sources because the rose really stands out.

Lighting Homework

I took this photo using the flash. I actually went into my basement with no lights on and took this.

Lighting Homework

This photo was taken under a flourescent light and is one of the images that I did in different lighting.

My Trip

I recently went to Chicago to visit my sister who is studying for the bar exam. While there we decided to go to the tallest building in the United States. We were on the 103rd floor of the Sears Tower and the view was amazing. Although the picture is not very good it was a lot of fun to take pictures from such a height and different perspective. I took many other pictures from every angle imaginable, but this was the clearest shot I got. I had a great time in Chicago and I'm glad that I got to see such a historical building. While in Chicago we also saw Second City and did many other interesting things like the Field Museum which has the most well preserved and complete Tyrannosaurus rex, her name is Sue. Overall, Chicago was wonderful and I wish I had more photos to share!

Baby Moose

This picture is of a baby moose that was just born, it stumbled out into the road and could barely stand up.

The Elk

My boyfriend Luke shot an Elk on his hunting trip in Montana. He had the antlers mounted and soon they will be hung up in our new house! Obviously, I am not too excited about this.

Axel and I

This is Axel and I laying on the couch. It is our favorite spot to relax and spend some time together.
